it can all suck, especially on the 'net.....maybe "love" is thrown around too much, maybe it should be called "infatuation", as there is a big difference, although it can feel like the real deal.....i'm not one of those people who think that in order for it to be "love", one has to be physically together, because love exists solely in the mind; in the heart and soul.....and that's exactly how we meet each other online; mind n soul first....
i agree with rotten, tho, that many of these relationships originate out of loneliness or insecurity and aren't as deep as they'd like to think, which comes as a shock to some....and as soon as they end, you see them doing the same thing with someone else right away.......then someone else, and someone else, and each time, they swear it's "love".....i've done it a couple of times, so i'm making this assertion out of firsthand experience
however, i can honestly say that i have loved genuinely online a couple of times.....and i still do.....(in a different sense now, tho)......when it's real, it doesn't just go away so quickly, just the same as if it were a "real" relationship, that is, a physical one.....the kind that a lotta people deem the only legitimate kind....i can see why, since relationships are different when you aren't just sitting in one spot, typing.....there are TONNNNNNS more experiences to be had and things to deal with in the flesh, obviously...
the emotions are real, though, this i can tell you, and there are different types of love......and sometimes it develops from platonic friendships over the course of months of daily chatting for hours on end...if both people are being themselves and being honest, then certainly romantic love can blossom from it, no doubt.....my sister is living proof; she met her husband on a message board, they've been happily married for 7 years and have a child http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif
by the same token, the pain can be just as unbearable when something that's become so much a part of your life, for whatever reason, ends......but the beauty of the 'net is that there are tons of distractions and there are millions of people out there who can take your mind off your pain.....and i'm not talking about finding another relationship, i'm talking about all the friendships one can make in here.......my chat programs have extensive buddy lists, and at any given time, i know that i can count on at least one person to be there for me if i needed them, who i wouldn't mind listening TO if they needed me........how fucking amazing that is!.....i sure don't get that many options in "real life"....i have plenty of friends, don't get me wrong, but only a select few who are extremely close to me, and wouldn't mind listening to me whine at *checks the clock*.........5:53am??!!! http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/eek.gif......(*LOL* damn, i shouldn't have taken that long nap earlier http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/tongue.gif).....i wouldn't even wanna call any of my "walking life" friends this late if something was on my mind, (unless i was in actual crisis).....but on here, you find whichever of your friends are also awake or in another time zone, etc......
i think i made my point tho....
damn you, rotten, now i'm hungry too http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/mad.gif......*gnaws on your bony elbow*

What I wonder is would all the girls here that I have seen "in love"...would feel the same way if they lived with the other side of the person. You dont pay bills with these people...You dont stress out because the kids need new shoes, the phone bill is due and xmas is near. You dont clean up after them and you dont listen to them snore every night. You dont deal with their families nor do you have to take care of them when they are sick.
What you get here mostly is the best of the person. Because they are here falling "in love" for the same reasons you are. Therefore they are usually giving as good as you are. I realize there are bad nights but when you think about it...Net relationships are all about "someone to talk too" and share intimate feelings sometimes more so than what you would share with that person you have in real life...Cause in real life all those real life distractions get in the way....anyway Just a thought.. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smile.gif

BTW...I should add I do believe you can love here...Love someones personality..Love how they make you laugh..Love how sexual they are and love that you can talk to them for hours about nothing...and I also do believe things happen here because of real life lonely situations...but I dont believe that you can fall "in love" here every month..I mean in reality falling in love happens maybe once or twice in your life...maybe its the idea of what it might be is what you fall in love with....shit now im thinking about this too much..
*goes for cheeze whiz toast*
